While it is recommended to pack lightly whenever possible, here are a few items you may consider bringing. 

  • Bed Necessities
    • Blankets
    • Sheets
    • Pillows
    • Mattress toppers
  • Clothes
    • Rain gear (raincoat, umbrella, boots)
    • Parka and warmer winter clothes (snow boots)
      • It usually gets cold in mid-October and stays that way until April-May
    • Shorts and summer wear
    • Business formal and business casual for career fairs or interviews
    • Notre Dame gear!
  • Shower Equipment
    • Shower caddy
    • Shower shoes (flip-flops or Crocs)
    • Personal care items (body wash, shampoo, conditioner, etc.)
    • Towels
  • Posters, lights, photos, etc. for a personal touch
  • Extension cords
  • Laptop and cell phone + chargers
  • School supplies
  • 3M command strip hooks or 3M adhesive tape (sticky tack is recommended for light hanging)
  • Kitchen supplies and Cleaning
    • Paper towels
    • Dishes/mugs/cups
    • Silverware
    • Soap & sponges
    • Lysol wipes or sanitizing spray
    • Handwashing soap
  • Laundry supplies
    • Laundry bag
    • Detergent

Items to Discuss with your Roommate:

  • Futon
  • Mini fridge (less than 5 cubic ft)
  • Carpet
  • Other small furniture (tables, chairs, etc.)
  • Keurig

  • No microwaves allowed!

  • Tape
  • Full length Mirror or Vanity
  • A fridge with a freezer
  • If you are flying to campus, a portable luggage scale
  • LED lights or any secondary light source
