Hi and the biggest hug and welcome to our beautiful, new Valkyries! My name is Bri Ruiz, and I am one of the co-chairs for this year’s St. Andre Committee. I am thrilled to lead such a fun and lovely Welcome Weekend team alongside Eliza and create a welcoming, inclusive, and loving second home for you all. I am a fourth year majoring in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Interdisciplinary Poverty Studies. I am from Los Angeles, California, but in Johnson, I will be living in room 340 and my door is always open for you all! In my free time or to destress, you can find me binging a new Netflix show, cooking, bowling, painting, or planning my next hiking trip. On campus, I work alongside the Center for Social Concerns SSLP team and am passionate about volunteering and community involvement. A fun little fact about me is that the first time I had ever seen snowfall was as a freshman here at ND!  I am beyond excited to meet you all so soon! Please feel free to contact me or stop me wherever you see me on campus!

Hey, hey, hey new Valkyries! My name is Eliza Smith, and I am one of the co-chairs of the St. Andre Committee. I am so excited to lead with Bri and the other members of the committee to give you all a great Notre Dame experience. This is my second year serving as co-chair, and I am so excited to make it even better than last year! I am a fourth year majoring in Psychology and Global Affairs: Peace Studies with minors in CDT: Cyber Safety and Security and Italian. I am originally from Kennesaw, Georgia, which is about 20 minutes from Atlanta. In JFam, I live in 410, a single overlooking East Quad, and I am always ready to host. I am so ready to return after spending this last semester abroad in Rome, Italy and South Africa. Some of my hobbies include watching football (Go Steelers and Irish!), cooking, running, playing Nintendo Switch with friends, and watching movies. On campus, I am involved with student government, Sorin Scholars, MSPS, research, and student work. A cool accomplishment I have had is being the first female and black student to portray my high school’s mascot (Shelton the Eagle). Cannot wait to meet you all so soon! I am also available to talk or email anytime :)

Hi y’all! I am absolutely stoked to see every single JFAM freshman on campus in the fall! Whether you are feeling a little bit nervous about going away to college or are absolutely over the moon about it, I know that you are going to be able to find a home and a loving community in Johnson Family Hall. I know that I was definitely a mix of both when I arrived, and I don’t think I could have had a better experience here! As a California native, I was not used to the cold weather, but I promise it is beararble. The best night of my time on campus was the night of the first snow. BELIEVE me, you will be hearing from me when you get to campus! I am very loud and hard to miss. One piece of advice for all freshmen: please please please go into your experience at Notre Dame with an open mind… it will be instrumental in meeting new people, trying new things, and embracing what makes Notre Dame special. Ride Valks and Go Irish. <3

Hello all!! Absolutely cannot wait to welcome you to Johnson Family Hall!!!! I am a sophomore majoring in Sociology and Management Consulting, and possibly adding a Theology minor. I am from northeast Indiana, about two and a half hours from Notre Dame’s campus, but this year I will be living in room 316 (3A)! Not sure if this is a special talent, but I love giving hugs, so if you ever need a hug or some chocolate (or anything else) PLEASE stop on by any time!! Notre Dame’s campus is beautiful and I love going on long walks with friends, especially around the lakes! Some of my other favorite things: cheering on the Irish at any event (football, basketball, hockey), spontaneous trips, game nights, basketball, working out, and late night meaningful conversations! The valkyries are a special community, and we are SO excited to welcome you into the BEST dorm on campus. Get excited!!! Get hyped!!! Welcome weekend will be here before we know it :)
